Agritourism Feasibility in Sardinia

An agritourism project in Sardinia must be based on a real agricultural enterprise and a credible relationship between farming and the proposed hospitality, catering or recreational activity.

I provide preliminary feasibility advice for foreign buyers, farmers and rural property owners considering agritourism, agricamping, educational farms, rural hospitality and other activities connected to agriculture.

Why feasibility should come before design

A beautiful property or existing rural building does not automatically support an agritourism business. Before investing in design, renovation or purchase, it is important to assess the agricultural basis of the project, available land and labour, planning context, buildings, access, water, infrastructure and the intended combination of primary and connected activities.

What the assessment may consider

  • The current or proposed agricultural activity and its operational credibility
  • Land area, crops, livestock, labour requirements and seasonal organisation
  • The relationship between primary farming and connected activities
  • Existing buildings, outdoor areas, access, parking, water and utilities
  • Planning, landscape, environmental and agricultural constraints
  • Options such as accommodation, agricamping, catering, tastings, educational or recreational activities
  • Required authorisations and the specialist professionals likely to be involved
  • Principal investment risks, phases and recommended next steps

Agricultural and connected activities

The feasibility study considers whether the proposed connected activity is coherent with the farm’s resources, organisation and primary agricultural activity. The exact legal, fiscal and administrative requirements depend on the business structure and current regional rules and must be verified for the individual case.

Architectural design, structural calculations, fire safety, geology, building compliance, legal advice and taxation remain within the competence of the relevant qualified professionals. I can coordinate the agricultural requirements and technical information with the project team.

For buyers who have not yet purchased

If you are evaluating a rural property, feasibility should be considered together with the property’s planning status, agricultural potential and actual limitations. A project that is possible in principle may still be uneconomic or unsuitable for a specific site.

Where appropriate, the work can be combined with a pre-purchase inspection, due diligence or valuation.

Indicative professional fee

Agricultural feasibility and development assessment — from €1,300 + 4% EPAP. Complex projects involving several activities, buildings, funding applications or coordination with a wider professional team require a tailored quotation.

Travel, laboratory work, surveys, official fees, design services and the work of other professionals are quoted separately. The scope and deliverables are agreed in writing before work begins.

Start with a realistic preliminary review

Send the property location, available documents, land area, existing agricultural activity and a description of the proposed hospitality or connected activities. I will identify the first checks needed before you invest further.
